Welcome Back!

It's that time again! New books, pencils, crayons, and markers. Those are some of my favorite smells! I love it when stores begin putting out all of their supplies, although I wish it wasn't the beginning of July when all of that began.
Needless to say I have bought all of my supplies and have also put them away. My shelves have a fresh coat of paint. New books are waiting to be written in and desks waiting to be filled with chatty little bodies!
I can't wait for SCHOOL!

Easter Party

We did not have a traditional Easter egg hunt. We hunted eggs that were filled with puzzle pieces. After each team found all of their eggs they had to work together to assemble a puzzle. One team learned that it really took working together to get the job done! Congratulations Team #1!

Dylan's Bat

Dylan found a bat...and brought it to share! I think it probably had a lively day in second grade! It was released before the end of the day. Can you spy the bat?

Soldier Letters

The Y-Club at Piedmont Academy collected handwritten letters for the troops to open on Thanksgiving as a part of The Bert Show’s Big Thank You. Every year, the Bert Show, a radio show out of Atlanta, collects handwritten thank you letters for every single service member that is deployed to open on Thanksgiving. These letters hugely impact the morale of our troops who are unable to be home with their families for the holidays. This year, 4 students in second grade received a letter back. The soldier told the students about his career in the Navy and about his specific job in Afghanistan. He told them about his family and answered some questions. Most importantly, the students were thanked for the friendly letters that made their time away from home easier. Students who received letters in Tara Pope's second grade classroom included Dylan Pitts, Savannah Stanton, Dalton Wallace, and Emily McEwen

Favorite Reading Series and Book Reports

I have created a form for your son/daughter to complete to let me know about what they would like to read and what kind of book projects they would like to do on the books. It's very short and will only take a minute of your time!
